Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) provides a holistic health care service

herbalist and massage therapist uses a range of therapeutic interventions which
are tailored to your individual health condition; including acupuncture, massage
cupping, moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine. These tools are aimed to
promote normal circulation of Qi (energy) and blood within an individual, to
correct imbalance and restore harmony.
TCM has gained wide spread acceptance in recent years, as well as formal
recognition by the World Health Organisation. TCM is safe, natural and effective
in the treatment of women's health issues, chronic pain, headaches, arthritis,
insomnia, sciatica, stress, frozen shoulder, lethargy, depression,
musculoskeletal disorders, hair loss, arthritis, asthma, cold/flu etc. Common
beneficial effects are pain relief, improved sleep, better digestion, increased
energy and vitality and relaxation.
TCM & Fertility
The approach of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to infertility treatment is
to regulate the female menstrual cycle according to the 4 phases of follicular
development and maturity, ovulation and the luteal phase. A skilled TCM
Practitioner will prescribe specific acupuncture points and often herbal
medicine, according to each stage of the cycle, the symptoms presented and the
underlying constitution of the individual. The aim of the treatment is to
re-establish harmony within the individual, to create a more conducive
environment for conception to take place.
Research shows that acupuncture regulates blood flow to the reproductive organs,
increases thickness of endometrial tissue, balances hormone levels, reduces
stress, increases ovarian and pituitary axis function and assists in healthy
sperm production.
Acupuncture is often used to treat women’s health issues including; PCOS
(polycystic ovarian syndrome) endometriosis. It is also an effective for dealing
with weight issues, low sperm count and abnormal sperm morphology, all of which
are commonly associated with infertility.
Acupuncture & IVF
Studies show acupuncture at the time of Embryo transfer during an IVF cycle
improves the chances of pregnancy. Typically, miscarriage occurs within the
first trimester and acupuncture may also assist to improve the chances of a
healthy and successful conception, pregnancy and birth and baby.
Suggested treatment: 1-2 treatments for 4 weeks prior to embryo transfer.
